Assignments ADM 3396: Business Model Competition

Business Model Competition: Two thirds of your grade is based on your Business Model and hand-in and one third for your Presentation. Teams: This practicum is to be done in teams of from two to four students.
You will prepare a business model for an enterprise that you can self launch using bootstrap capital and smart marketing (using guerrilla and/or social marketing). See for example: http://qwantz.com/ and http://gradeatechs.com/, and other Student Case Studies. Students present their Business Models for their Learn By Doing Practicum; this is your entry into the Business Model Competition. The top five student teams go on to compete in the University of Ottawa's Wes Nicol Business Plan Competition and the top team may be eligible for the Nicol Competition National Finals.

Scott Annan is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded Mercury Grove 5 years ago and has built custom software solutions for industry leaders including Tempur-Pedic, Applebee's, Coleman, and Proctor & Gamble, and recently launched Network Hippo, a viral-growth network relationship management website. He is also the co-founder of Startup Ottawa, Techdrifters - a network for independent technical workers, and is launching a new application, Web Collaboration in March of this year.

Requirements include:

1. A one page Business Model Flow Chart (start by using our online Business Model Generator) plus hand in of a one page spreadsheet showing how value is created for one individual client or customer. Examples of demonstrating value propositions: Value Proposition of a Residential Realtor, the spreadsheet, Value Proposition for a HR Professional, the spreadsheet.

2. Make sure you also calculate your Cash Conversion Cycle and show that too.

3. Biz Model Presentations and Competition.
